Description Pic 3 of Mysterious 'Scooped' Stone at Belstone Tor.
This shows the whole feature on the next outcrop to the north from the highest part of Belstone Tor, directly above Nine Stones.
The scooped stone is centre, the 'beaky' stone is on the right, and you can see the grassy part of the 'seat' left, where you can sit to see the view in Pic 1 [the higher peaks of Yes Tor and High Willhays framed by the 'scooped' stone, and the 'beaky' stone.] To the rear of the 'scooped' stone, and next to the 'beaky' stone is rubble infill [see Pic 2]. This made me really wonder if this feature IS man-made, and if so, when and why?
'WHY' might be because the view to the high tors is at SW, the focal point for Winter Solstice. Did the builders of Nine Stones possibly 'arrange' this feature above their cairn circle to sit on that natural 'seat' and view these special hills whilst doing so?
[See my earlier pic of Nine Stones that shows which high point we're looking at.]

I meant to say 'Winter Solstice *sunset*'.
Maybe someone visiting Nine Stones will climb up and have a look at this, and give me their own opinion?
