How do you get the church to look so close to the Avenue? Is it photo-editing? I'm not very clever with my camera.. just set it on Automatic..
(That's my 'banana-stone' to the right!)

It's using a 300mm lens Ange it brings all of the depth of field together providing an optical illusion in all reality.

JackDaw. Interesting pictures. Very rich colours. I think the answer to Angie's question is more about perspective rather than Depth of Field - DoF determines the elements of the picture in focus either side of the focal point. Perspective determines how big the backgound looks compared to the foreground. In the case above the effective focal length is 405mm (270m at a 1.5 crop) makes the background appear bigger, or compressed. This link demonstrates the effect nicely http://www.photozone.de/3Technology/demos/focalCompress.htm#

Thanks twenty trees i realise that much appreciated for the correction-the rich colours tend to be inherent with the camera i use;Nikon D200 very rich sometimes i have to desat. to work with them rather than t'other way round! Thanks again.
