yet to be discovered by the masses! The O.S. map doesn't actually show them,
but the settlement of 'Stones' has a 'Stones Lane' so you know you're on the
right track.
The first one is a curious, spindley thing, twelve feet high. It sits on a large circular stone, like a mill-stone. There are marks on it's surface that could indicate it's use as a gatepost. I include it here as it is sited atop an ancient 'beacon hill', called 'Centre Hill' and may have replaced a
stone now missing, and because of it's proximity to the others in the group.
The present stone appeared sometime between 1912 and 1921.
