Also known as Lamb's Quarter, this native plant produces small protein rich seeds in the autumn. The Woodland Era Indians of the Eastern US cultivated the plant and produced domesticated variants with thinner seed coats. The garden also contains, corn, various squash and gourds, an maygrass.
