|Description ||This superb 7.5 meter menhir lines up with the summit of the nearby Menez Bres - a historically significant mount of ancient Armorica. The village where this megalith dwells is called Men Hir - an indication of the stones importance. The spike on top of it used to hold a statue of St Peter, again in itself unusual, as most christianised menhirs have crosses on the top or carvings.|
It was difficult to locate and we would like to thank the lovely local lady of Men Hir who pointed us in the right direction - "round the back to the D15 and up the small track" (Petit chemin!!!)
Well worth a visit, this granite menhir is an imposing and vibrant stone.
The horizon on the picture shows Menez Bres and the chapel of St Herve.
