Rooms attached to the talayot
The rooms around the 'talayot' or tower would have been part of a large hypostyle hall (with monolithic columns) which, at some undetermined time, was partitioned into different spaces and corridors, giving form to the layout we now see.
According to the excavators, these rooms were abandoned: in approximately the 2nd century BC. However, a collection of ceramics dating back to the period of the Caliphate (10th cent. AD) was discovered in the room in which we are now standing. These pieces issue from one of the first rural Andalusian settlements on the island. |
