I visited and photographed this site sometime between 1997 and 2001. futher to the English Heritage description of the site, I seem to recall that antiquarian excavation was across the centre of the barrow and there was also a shallow trench longitudaully on the barrow - so forming a cross shape.
If you want to visit this site or the nearby Slatepits Copse long barrow, or any other site in Wychwood Forest you first must seek permission from the Cornbury Park Estate Office. |
