You can walk here from Fernwerthy Stone Circle but it's quite a walk. Another picture poster stated that it's "a few hundred metres" from Fernwerthy! In fact if you take the bridleway marked on the OS map as a green dash it is 1 and 3/4 miles (almost 3km). I navigated through the forest and came out around Tom's Hill at the stream but it's a long trek uphill through thick grass; pretty though. Afterwards I continued up around the forest to Shovel Down another 2 and 1/3 miles (3.75km) away but a beautiful walk, I can recommend it. If you attempt this there is a quick way back into Fernwerthy not shown on the OS map: a gate and track at SX657847 that will take you back down to where you left your car :) Have fun. |
