there is another beautiful stone very close to Llangyndeyrn- at the village of Cloigyn- i used to live there- as you come from Carmarthen to Pontyates you pass through a village called Bancycapel, if you look on your left as you go down the hill to the bottom of the valley, you will see the stone on the highest hill (especially if your travelling on the bus, as this affords you that extra few inches to peer over the hedges!). we used to live at 'Mill Cottage' which is the first house on your left as soon as you hit the very bottom of the hill- there is a track that runs to the right of the house, then a gate into the fields- just keep heading for the highest point! the land IS privately owned- by whom i'm not sure so we just used to follow the rules that common sense dictates in these circumstances.. the stone is beautiful- about 11ft tall and has quite a bit of orange lichen on the top- does anybody know anything more about it??
