I know the local story to this stone... true or not I don't know mind...
It was found in a field nearby the wall it's in now. When it was discovered and thought Roman someone tried to steal it, so the people (farmer?) building the wall placed it in the middle so the thief could not get to it..! Must have worked as it's still there decades later :)
