Before the early 19th C plantation was there, the midsummer solstitial setting would have been visible from the forecourt of Bridestones. Astronomer | astronomer (2007-06-08) | The obscuring plantation was mid 19th C. When Bridestones was constructed the midsummer sunset would have been visible (assuming no trees) from the ceremonial circle within the horns of the cairn. |
