Situated on a hillock overlooking the Severn estuary and the Second Severn Crossing. Located off a minor road to the north of Portskewett near Caldicott and marked on various OS maps as Dolmen or Long Barrow. . The stones are puddingstones (conglomerate glacial erratics) and mark the front of the eroded entrance grave. |
| Posted Comments: Vicky (2003-06-27) | We have a burial chamber called Heston Brake (http://www.megalithic.co.uk/article.php?sid=4160) listed at almost the same grid ref, but the description doesn't seem to fit with this one. This site (at ST 50528865) is briefly mentioned in Megalithic Enquiries in the West of Britain (Powell et al 1969) as a "much-denuded long mound (at least 70ft) E/W. Long parallel-sided chamber (c 26ft long), possibly of 2 periods of construction, opens from E. |
