The hill is part of the Dorset ridgeway and the barrows are scattered along the length of the ridge, with an incredible density. It must have been quite a sight when they were gleaming white chalk mounds. They're still quite impressive in this state of decay, covered in grass and blending in with their surroundings. This view is looking northwest, with the tower of the Hardy Monument in the distance. |
