Description Hampi, at Karnataka, on the banks of the Thungabadra river. Lord Vishnu as Narishima (lion) carved in the hard granite by ancient sculptors.

How ancient is this? Since Vijayanagara was founded in 1336 CE, I'm guessing less than 700 years.

Could well be. We could use some more input on sites in India, I'm hoping some locals might find our listings, like Aska and Tom Lee have with our Japanese and Korean sites
