I was quite disappointed with the results, and not only because of the murky day. I of course should have done some gardening before laying on the damp ground to remove the foreground grass. A wide angle shot of the quoit would have looked much more like I was wanting, but to get the engine house bigger, a telephoto shot was required. Or of course some jiggery pokery, as I suspect was done in the picture I had in my mind which I had seen somewhere.
But after Jim's shot and all the comments, I thought I'd submit this anyway, to perhaps inspire others to go do much better ! |
| Posted Comments: jackdaw1 (2006-11-02) | Yer a good fella-sometimesweather does not prevail and things cannot be satisfied however you'd like it to be-you've got good composition here and nowt to worry about; i did a similar shot with gun hill with jodrell bank in the background it was out of focus but telephoto and 20 miles away what can you do?Great quoit. | JimChampion (2006-11-02) | Ding Dong. Its good and I think the grass adds to it. Please don't indulge in too much jiggery pokery - I can't stand (for example) moons that occupy half the sky! | AngieLake (2006-11-02) | I like it Martyn. The stones have lots of texture, and the pale grass is lovely - it breaks up the foreground nicely. Ding Dong looks a little larger than usual, but overall, it's good. | thecaptain (2006-11-03) | thanks for those nice comments. Theres no jiggery pokery here, nor in any of my pictures, except for a little bit of brightness and contrast tweaking at times. I just never have the time for such things, and wouldnt know how to go about it anyhow. And I also generally dont like to see things messed about with too much. Wonder if I meant that grass to have been there at the time - I guess I must have ! |
