|Description ||This temple is supposed to date back to the time of Artaxerxes who reigned from 465 until 425BC. It is in fairly good condition and is known locally as Atash Gah or Atash Kadah. It sits on top of a small hill a couple of miles outside Isfahan. A track leads up to the structure and provides a fairly strenuous climb especially in the heat of the day. The ruins of other buildings also sit on the slope of the same hill and are probably buildings associated with the temple on top.
I have read that this temple was originally devoted to the worship of the sun, moon and stars and was converted to a fire temple by one of Zoroaster's original patrons, King Vishtaspa.|
