Description Tucked away in a picturesque corner of Lanhydrock gardens is this well. As Lanhydrock is supposed to be named after an early Irish missionary who settled here: 'Lan' (like the Welsh 'Llan'), of St.Hydroc(k) - [there are two spellings on the web] - it's possible that this is an ancient well that he used.

I picked up a NT guide book to Lanhydrock in a charity shop today. It contains this description "Above it [the thatched cottage] stands the Holy Well, rebuilt in the 1860s on the site of an enclosure named Well Park on the 1694 map, and undoubtedly the reason why the monks of Bodmin built their house here."
