The large lintel stone is over the doorway to the end of the banana-shaped passage, with the blocking stone just out of sight to the right on the far side of the doorway. There is an unusual quartz block near the ceiling (top right). |
| Posted Comments: AngieLake (2006-09-30) | Is that a diamond-shaped pattern etched on the stone below the quartz stone, or just a trick of the light? | JimChampion (2006-09-30) | Several of the stones in the walls look like they've been scribbled on (with scratches) - I have no idea of the origin of these marks! | knap (2007-07-07) | For the brave or foolish (I perhaps lean towards the latter...) it is well worth attempting to explore the fogou in utter darkness. The feeling of sunlight as you exit is indescribable.
Great photo, Jim - an astonishing site and not an easy place to photograph. |
