Description When we arrived at Columcille the other day after two days of heavy rain, this young raptor was using the taller stones to watch for small creatures coming out for the plentiful beech nuts knocked to the ground by the rains. I was so intent on the stones, I didn't notice him until I was this close.

This is quite a large bird of prey, a young red-tail hawk about 2 feet in length, as you may not be able to tell with nothing else there for scale.
