Description Seven Lords' Lands cairn is under this colourful mound of heather and gorse. One of its westerly kerb stones peeks out of its blanket, (left), while Haytor (left) and Saddle Tor (right) shrug their granite shoulders.

I'm going off on one again!.... If we are looking east here, I wonder if this cairn was placed to take advantage of the equinox sunrises over the saddle between those two tors? (The cairn without its vegetation would fill the whole photo, so I'm standing at a westerly point).

Delighted to find another stone person so close by. And - you are right to go off on one! I am just deciding where to go for the rising sun tomorrow, and I spotted your comment here. On the OS it 'looks' very like the Beltane Sun will rise over Haytor. Maybe cradled in the middle. Haytor is significant for other festivals too. I have spent many years at Stannon, Bodmin trying to get the ultimate pic of the alignment with Rough Tor, I have one. Thought I would try closer to home (Shaldon) tomorrow for 15 degree Solar Rise position. I will post a pic if it is clear..... BB Maia
