The Andle Stone or Oundle Stone is a dominating outcrop of sandstone, standing alone in the middle of a field, surrounded by a dry-stone wall and a mass of rhododendrons. Approximately 5m high by 4.5m wide, the rock is supposedly carved with ancient cupmarks on the, modern graffiti, a relatively recent inscription and climbing holes on the sides.

(2005-05-27) | From Gloucester, Essex County, Massachusetts. Old maps show TwopennyLoaf. Marker on nautical maps from 17th century for entrance to Chebaco Lake. 1650's - Francis Willoughby, then 1660's Peter Coffin Land - a magnificent beach on pre 1600 Dutch maps (then named Wingaersheek - re named by English Coffins Beach). (2005-08-17) | Hi Zog. As far as I know there aren't any maps of all the ley lines in Britain. 'Northern Earth' magazine recommend that the first thing to do is study the criteria listed by Alfred Watkins (in 'The Old Straight Track), Philip Heselton (A Beginners Guide to Ley Lines, Hodder & Stoughton, 1999) or Danny Sullivan (Ley Lines, Piatkus, 1999). Then get your 1:25, 000 O.S. map out and do the fun bit! Personally, I think the existence of Ley Lines is contentious and worth lots of friendly discussion :-D |
