Description Werpeloh Stone Circle Constructed and build by Padre Matthäus in 2002. There are 2 circles. The inner circle with a center-stone and the outer circle with stones on an earth wall. The center stone may be an old sacrifice or altar stone with optical lines-of-sight. This stone were found at earthworks. Padre Mattäus believes that this optical lines-of-sight connect this stone with the many hunebeds around this location. The central stone has lines for sunrise and sunset at the summer-solstice, too. Werpeloh Stone Circle is build with the knowlegde and symbolism of nordic pagan religion but appointed by christian thinking to impart holistic God-understanding. In the west-stone a small alcove was included which contains a Black Madonna and amethysts. In christian body of thought is the Virgin Mother origin of life, the Padre means: "Life evolves from the energy of sun through a higher instance". The amathysts catches as a symbol for origin of life the sunbeams of the rising sun.

Forgot - the stone circle has a diameter of 32m. The centerstone is an ancient stone and nearly on its original position. it was found 3km away. So - maybe "modern construction" is the right section, but ancient, too.
