Celtic Chieftains Tumulus in Glauberg dating to 500 BCE, just south of the Hillfort. The site was discovered in 1988 when anomalies showed up on the aerial photography. The content of the tumulus had drifted into the henge like ditch and processional way suroounding the mound and leading South. The grave in the middle was empty, but artifacts, in particular a complete life sized limestone statue were found in two other graves within the ditch. There is a copy in the village museum and the original is believed to be in the Frankfurt Museum. |
