| Posted Comments: Thorgrim (2006-02-28) | Great texture! When I see Ty's B&W pictures I wonder why I bother with colour... But then I remember that good monochrome is so much harder to achieve. Not just a great photo, but also printed by a master Superb. | nicoladidsbury (2006-02-28) | Did you set it on a long exposure Ty? I think I see two sheep in the background. Its a very beautiful photo. | TysonM (2006-02-28) | Peter, I really appreciate your remarks on the b&w images posted on this website. You, I, and 3 other members seem to be the only ones who vote or make comments on the b&w images. The realism of color seems to grab the attention of the masses. | TysonM (2006-02-28) | Nicola, thanks for your comment and attention to detail. Yes, it is a long exposure taken with a neutral density filter. ND filters reduce the amount of light exposing the film, which allows the photographer to have longer exposures. It can make slow grazing sheep look like racehorses. | nicoladidsbury (2006-02-28) | Or little ghosts! Does the ND filter and long exposure help to bring out the crisp detail of the stone? | TysonM (2006-03-01) | The detail comes from using film that is around 4 times bigger then regular 35mm film. Larger film means more detail. Your right about the ghostly appearance of the sheep. I mentioned racehorses because quicker motion blurrs at normal shutter speeds. |
