(2006-02-27) | Nice pics, Nicola. Does the foreground stone have anything to do with the barrow and its ritual surroundings, or is it a cow stratching post? | nicoladidsbury
(2006-02-28) | I did stop and wonder at the stone in the foreground. Its on a line with an overground drystone wall, so I think its a gatepost, but my partner was convinced it was once a standing stone! There is a circle half way down the stone, and he thought it could be a cup and ring. I wasnt convinced. There were other similar stones used as gate posts, with cups, so you never know.... |
