I have visited the nearby Rhos y Beddau circle and rows twice since Feb 2000; on this, my third visit, I was determined to find the other reported circle, Cwm Rhiwiau.
The stones are indeed there, the tallest stones no more than ankle height. We were able to locate the northern outlier, but missed the southern outlier. We found the diameter of the circle surprisingly large for the size of the stones.
If looking to locate the circle, from Rhos Y Beddau look north to a rocky outcrop. Look down to the right for a lighter coloured patch of grass. Then, very carefully pick your way through the boggy stretches, working out which is the best route for you to cross the stream which runs in the clough which you need to cross.
The stones very much put me in mind of the Cefn Maen Amor circle a mile or two from Druid's Circle further north. |
