|Description ||One of the recently identified 'Tri - Radial' Cairns on Lordenshaw.
Some archaeos think this rare type of cairn might have been a windbreak for livestock! As you can imagine, it hasnít been widely accepted because a number have contained human remains.|
|Thanks for posting the pic, Rich. I've yet to see a 'tri-radial' cairn in the flesh. Nice to see a photo. Do you have any dimensions for this example? |
|Wind break for livestock? I must remember that in my attempt to de-ritualise some of our megalithic structures. Stock pens and windbreaks - maybe them there cursus thingies were drove roads for them good ol' farmin' boys back then.|
|Dave, I think theres 3 tri-radials around Lordenhaw & theyíre different sizes. This particular one will be about 7m N-S, a much larger one is roughly 30 meters west.
Peter, not sure where the evidence for it is, it sounds like something somebody just plucked out of the air!
