Description Colonia Julia Narona
The Romans built new towers directly onto the Cyclopean Iron age walls of the original Hill Fort. The town was finaly destroyed by Slavs in the 7th Century. There is a museum of some good statues in the basement of the local school. After the excavations in 1907, the best Statues where taken to the Aschmolean Museum in Oxford. There were more intensive excavations in 1988.

The Narona Forum is currently being restored.
