NGR: SJ914749 (Landranger map 118)
Once located in green fields this fenced-in barrow is now located within a housing estate. Apparently affectionately known locally as 'Tellytubby Hill' the mound is easily accessible. Lavenham Close is a cul-de-sac so you can't use the excuse that you were 'just passing'.

| Posted Comments: Tom Eccles (2005-01-02) | Shame they built over all that farmland; imagine all the artefacts, never to be discovered.
Unless the estate falls down, as it is rumoured to do in the coming years. This makes sense, Tytherington has many underground streams and the soil is very sandy - not good stuff to build 1,500 houses on, don't you agree? |
