| Posted Comments: Thorgrim (2005-09-28) | Very nice, Oci - looks like its sprouting! Thanks for this - we really are seeking them out and collecting them together. I know of no publication that is a comprehensive guide to them all, or even most. Soon, the Portal could boast the largest illustrated collection of ancient crosses. | ocifant (2005-09-29) | I'll see if I can dig out any others from my Cumbria trip earlier this year. I'm always on the lookout for ancient crosses now... | astronomer (2006-02-24) | See a similar cross depicted in Neville Sharpe's book 'Crosses of the Peak District' ...Landmark Publishing 2002? His photograph has it outside Taddidgton church at SK142711. | astronomer (2010-06-19) | Since 2006 I have been in e-mail contact with Neville Sharpe who sent me several of his reference books. Highly recommended is 'Northumbrian Crosses of the Pre-Norman Age' by W.G.Collingwood, 1927. Republished 1989, Llanerch Enterprises, Lampeter. ISBN 0947992359 | Andy B (2010-06-19) | astronomer, how many are listed in the book and do they give accurate locations? (can you guess what I'm thinking...) |
