Description Silbury Hill from Avebury to West Kennet footpath. Most people only ever view Silbury Hill from the viewpoint off the road. For a great circular walk, leave the Avebury car park and cross the road. Follow the path by the river, keeping Silbury Hill on your right. When you reach the road you can cross it and walk up to West Kennet long barrow. Then retrace your steps to the road and follow it to the beginning of the Avenue. To walk along the Avenue is to make a pilgrimage to Avebury and when you finally arrive, it will mean so much more to you than just walking the short tourist hop from the car park to the stones. Other easy walks from Avebury are to Windmill Hill, the Sanctuary or Fyfield Downs from where the sarsens stones were hauled. A real challenge is to find the mysterious Polisher stone on Fyfield Downs.

Forgiven, but if it was smaller we could appreciate what a nice composition it is! (as seen in version in 'more new pictures')

Lovely picture, very atmosphere. Perhaps the best picture I've seen of Silbury Hill.
