Brown Low is an Iron Age round barrow in a stand of oak trees. There are two pits on it, though whether this was caused by someone removing trees or making a place for a fire is unclear. The barrow has a slight depression, which may indicate that the middle has fallen in. Other than that, it looks to be in excellent shape. It has not been studied by archaeologists and it is suspected the Bishop who ransacked the Ludworth Intakes may have also plundered this one. The oak trees all look relatively young and it is likely that they were planted within the last 100 years. For those interested in Ley Lines, it is worth noting that Brown Low and the Robin Hood Picking Rods lie exactly on magnetic north/south, and Brown Low and Ringstones Farm lie exactly on magnetic east/west.
