The circle is on a south-facing slope, so sunset comes a little earlier here than on the north coast of Cornwall (something I was glad I'd remembered, otherwise I might have arrived to find the place dark and difficult to navigate). The bracken inside the circle has been kept down this year, by the looks of it. A tourist leaflet I saw (for the St Buryan area) said that the circle got a mention in the Domesday book. |
