Our very own Brigantia discovered this little beauty in April this year. It was covered by turf & only the small shallow cup on the left hand side was orginally visible. We carefully uncovered the stone & revealed a rock with about 10 cups & 2 grooves. 2 of the cups are extremely deep & sharp and the lack of erosion would suggest it’s been hidden for millennia. The carving has been recovered with turf.
Not referenced in ‘Prehistoric Rock Art of the West Riding’, or known about by North Yorks County Council, this is probably a rediscovery.
