House plus sleds makes sense. Boats plus fish traps makes sense. | Martin L (2012-08-14) | The overlapping carvings on these west swedish panels usually appear to be no scenic images and seem to date to different ages. The sites are very close to the (prehistoric) shore-line and largely situated at the edges of the (prehistoric) fields (and houses). So, boats and houses were close to each other. Of course (as has been mentioned) it is impossible to interpret some symbolic carvings like these `house-groundplans" with 100% certainty. Anyway the houses of that age had groundplans like that. |
