| Posted Comments: douglas scott (2002-11-01) | douglas.scott@virgin.net but do you know what it's aligned towards | astronomer (2003-06-27) | CII is aligned on the winter solstitial sunset, looking the other way. I haven't yet checked the NE aspect from measurements I made 21 June 2003 but I am pretty sure there is no sunrise alignment, the hill has an elevation of nearly 7 degrees and an azimuth of about 65 degrees. This horizon is too high to see a sunrise alignment with CII. The sun rises much further rightwards. | astronomer (2003-06-28) | Correction to the above, I got my magnetic bearings back to front. In 2000BC the sun rose against the NE horizon at the extreme left of the piccy, Az 57deg, Alt 7 deg. In the dip beteewn the two hilltops, the rightmost one being shown in your picture. |
