Now that really is special! I thought that I had seen every possible Silbury Hill photo that ever was or could be. This one with it floating in the mist is a beauty and so unusual AND it isn't a photo shopped fake! Well done.

I love the way the dawn mist is still hugging the mound. What a magic place it, must have been great to be there.

It was a magical moment, peaceful and quiet with just the stirrings of the dawn chorus from the skylarks. All I did with the photo was to crop a little from the bottom. Jimit.

The central cloud character is so trippy, not that I ever have you understand, 'You swing it to the right, sshhwishhh, and, wait for it...', a stunning cloud performance! And all the little numpty heads poking out of the mist, 'Oh, wow man, that is so unreal'. Said in a Norman sort of voice. Just enjoying the picture jimit and all its levels. It's a huge pleasure to come back to pictures like this and just enjoy them, multifaceted-ly.

Another wonderful feature of this great planet we live on. Something simple, but only visible to those who rise early (or don't go to bed.) Being at Stonehenge again for Solstice made this sleepy-head want to 'rise early' more often! Silbury, here, reminds me of a creme caramel in a dish of fluffy white cream. (I love the word 'numpty' Creators! Did you get it from a book, or have you just made it up? See - inspiration from lovely pictures even creates new language!)

No, Angie, it was Keira the (Irish Wolfhound) dog, who lives over the road from I, who has a numpty nose. So Leah's (Nasher) mum just called a spade a spade. A numpty got launched, a sort of thing, y'know, daft. So we started calling each other numpties, round these parts, for being daft or numpty. So there you have it. Welcome to numpty world.

Lovely photo as I said above, but if you can accept well meaning and constructive criticism - can I just make a point or two? If you could have gone forward some way along the track, you would have lost the dark foreground and looked down into the entire bowl of mist. What a picture that would have been! Probably you didn't have enough time and the mist was thinning as the sun rose. Second point - perhaps its my eyes or the lie of the land, but is the horizon horizontal? Does it and the summit of Silbury Hill not slope down to the left? Not knocking this pic in any way - its great with loads of "wish I was there" atmosphere.

I see where you are going Thorgim, but if you take the relative horizons, foreground, true horizon and sky (clouds), the thing holds together with such integrity, it's amazing.

I see what you mean Thorgrim, perhaps I was feeling a bit "lopsided" at the time ;) I'll leave it as it is though. Jimit.

Nice soft pastel colours and composition, with that eerie touch of the mist spanning the centuries. It was misty too when I was there many years ago, but on that occasion the mist obscured everything,so no photos were possible!

Thanks to everyone for their votes and kind comments. It's the first time I've won a prize for a photo so dead chuffed. I was lucky to be at the right place at the right time and had only bought my first proper digital camera the week before. Jimit.

This is a fantastic capture, I notice Thorgrim has commeneted on the level, and it really shouts at me. I would REALLY like to have a go at re=editing this, for me it would be even bettre cropped further both top and bottom and levelled. its about 1.5 degrees away from being level, which is too much for it to feel right for me.

Try sending Jimit a private message but we've not heard from him for ages
