|Graeme Chappell writes: "I think there have been a small number of references to possible the cup marks on the devils arrows, maybe in the yorkshire archaeological journal and a couple of other articles. A few years ago a dutch holiday maker also noted the marks and asked if they were erosion or genuine cup-marks.
I think they have been generally regarded as erosion along with the deep fluting on the tops of the stones, but rock art has been found on standing stones in other areas so why not the arrows?
