Thorgrim (2005-06-21) | Superb and the ground mist really adds something ethereal. |
hamish (2005-06-21) | Well done Leah, fabulous picture shows what it is all about. |
PaulM (2005-06-21) | Lovely - that would make a nice card (kerching?!). |
leah (2005-06-21) | Cheers guys, this was my very first solsice at 15 and i am hoping to attend every one to come (unless my leg drops off and then i'll find some nice person to carry me!) This picture was a tricky one as my camera lens was persistantly misting up, but i got the shot that i wanted. |
Thorgrim (2005-06-21) | Very well done, Leah. That's the real secret of photography - think about the shot that you want to get in advance. When you have worked out what you want and got yourself into the right position at the right time, with the right light - all you have to do then is wait for the picture you have already visualised and planned for - to appear in your viewfinder. Why on earth am I giving you advice? You don't need it and if you can take photographs like that at 15 - you really are going to be a star! |
creators (2005-06-21) | Nicely commented, Thorgrim, I think your advice is a good reminder for us all, it takes patience and this picture shows it's worth waiting for.
This is a comment for us old 'uns, can you imagine looking back and having a picture like this that you took at 15? Fantastic!
I am so glad you were there, Leah, and even more glad you got this shot. You are indeed a rising star. |
Benners (2005-06-21) | Simply Stunning bit of photography, about to become my desktop wallpaper if you don't mind!! |
Thorgrim (2005-06-21) | Yes - the more you look at it the more you see. Sun burst exactly behind the stone, the mist, the horizontal lines of cloud in the deep blue sky, the balance given by the silhouette of the trees. The figures on the skyline add scale and suggest something of the pre-dawn hush. |
JimChampion (2005-06-21) | I think the figures on the bank make this photo. Great. |
leah (2005-06-21) | like creators has just said it is most deffently a brilliant reminder i often see somthing and with the thrill of that i forget to get what i want in my veiwfinder thank you thorgrim. and yes benners you can deffently use this as youre wall papper i most deffently will i also agree that the figures on the hill make the picture spechal. |
Petercastle (2005-06-21) | Absolutely brilliant.well worth getting up early/staying up for. |
Nasher (2005-06-22) | yeh we got there really early so we could get a parking space but that was blown as the car park was full and had been i think for a night, so we had a little walk from westkennet long barrow to avebury but it was well worth it. By the way im leah and have just joined the site as nasher. |
NicolaDidsbury (2005-06-23) | its hard to find the words to express how deeply beautiful this photo is. I think it would be a great addition to the "Spirit of Place" gallery. Welcome to the portal Leah/Nasher!! |
Thorgrim (2005-06-23) | Yes - soon as the competition is over and judged - this one is going into the Spirit of Place gallery. |
