Cheers guys, this was my very first solsice at 15 and i am hoping to attend every one to come (unless my leg drops off and then i'll find some nice person to carry me!) This picture was a tricky one as my camera lens was persistantly misting up, but i got the shot that i wanted.

Very well done, Leah. That's the real secret of photography - think about the shot that you want to get in advance. When you have worked out what you want and got yourself into the right position at the right time, with the right light - all you have to do then is wait for the picture you have already visualised and planned for - to appear in your viewfinder. Why on earth am I giving you advice? You don't need it and if you can take photographs like that at 15 - you really are going to be a star!

Nicely commented, Thorgrim, I think your advice is a good reminder for us all, it takes patience and this picture shows it's worth waiting for. This is a comment for us old 'uns, can you imagine looking back and having a picture like this that you took at 15? Fantastic! I am so glad you were there, Leah, and even more glad you got this shot. You are indeed a rising star.

Yes - the more you look at it the more you see. Sun burst exactly behind the stone, the mist, the horizontal lines of cloud in the deep blue sky, the balance given by the silhouette of the trees. The figures on the skyline add scale and suggest something of the pre-dawn hush.

I think the figures on the bank make this photo. Great.

its hard to find the words to express how deeply beautiful this photo is. I think it would be a great addition to the "Spirit of Place" gallery. Welcome to the portal Leah/Nasher!!
