Description We set off for Avebury just as the skies began to clear and followed a magnificent partial rainbow all the way. Not an arc but a blazing column of multi-coloured fire rising up into the sky. It disappeared just as we pulled into the car park. That's life Jim. The woolly lawn mowers were out in force, guaranteeing that we took home a whole lot more than pictures. This cute little feller was most obliging though.

Fantastic dream like quality - ethereal. You really are a master of low level light photography. I am baffled as to how you acheived it without any visible motion of the sheep or fakery. That moon is real and not superimposed so...how? Got to be "Spirit of Place"

You are right, Thorgrm, no fakery involved. The secret is that sheep become very lethargic at night and stand, as these, in an almost mesmerised trance like state. They will move, so I just wait for them to settle again and sieze the moment. This was a 15 second exposure and that fine theory almost worked, but the ghosts are fortunately at the back far left. Glad you enjoyed the picture.

MMmmm......Zzzzzz.......I'm going a bit woolly-headed myself! Am I turning into a sheep (sorry - ewe) or am I just mesmerised by the atmosphere of this amazing photo? Wish I lived closer to Avebury.
