|Description ||May 2005. An 'experimental earthwork' (ditch and bank) at the northern end of Little Butser. It must have been here for at least 15 years, and the silting of the ditch and growth on the bank (including this young hawthorn tree) is quite noticeable. The exposed white chalk is visible from quite some distance, and is a reminder of how visually striking the earthworks on the chalk downs must have been at the time of their construction. [Just look at the density of cowslips here... this part of the nature reserve is covered with them]|
|What a lovely spring picture, I bet it was great up there. I love cowslips, they have a such beautiful scent.|
