If these are genuine cup-marks in its outer-facing, northwest face, they are very deep. I wonder if it is significant that the stone was placed so that they catch the rays of the setting midsummer solstice sun? (I'm not sure if this circle has been re-built at any time, or whether they are in the same position as the original builders intended.) To its rear is the NE stone, and the northernmost corner of the SE stone can just be glimpsed to the right of picture.

Great though, aren't they! :¬) |
