Iron Age Hillfort on ridge above Stolac, Bosnia. Romans conquered and destroyed this culture in second century BCE.
These are the remains of the eastern tower and gate, which are in substancially worse shape than the southern gate and tower. The brittle nature of some of the remaining stones leads me to suspect that there must have been a raging fire at the time of the conquest or in the intervening millenia since. |
