Iron Age Hillfort on ridge above Stolac, Bosnia. This is the so-called Akropolis in the western corner of the hillfort. There is a sheer drop down the cliffs on three sides of this area. The Akropolis blocks exceed the size of the narona town wall blocks and are themselves dwarfed by the blocks in the main wall.
Romans conquered and destroyed this culture in second century BCE. |
