Description Beltane 2005. The Wicker Man stands (35ft tall) ready for burning at Butser Ancient Farm's 2005 Beltane evening (30 April). The Farm was open for a general nose around in addition to the entertainments and wicker burning.

How did I miss this excellent photo? Isn't he comical? (Thanks to Amy's silly statement drawing my attention to it!)

I'd not been before, but this wicker man was a bit oafish. There's a photo gallery of past year's wicker men at the maker's website: http://www.gallica.co.uk/celts/wickerman.htm

This was my first year of attending, not sure how I had missed it in previous years? It does look comical, and if you see the previous year(s) they seem to get a bit more bizzare over the years. A brilliant night out and an excellent way to celebrate Belatine, two bands (Folk & Blues) Morris Dancing, Mummers, Hog Roast and a Bar, all for £5. Cant wait for next year!
