Heading NW on the A4080, take the 2nd right after the bridge over the Afon Cefni; this takes you onto a very narrow residential street, so mind your wing-mirrors!
At the end were 3 lanes; the middle took me to a house; here I asked permission; it was not the landowner, but the person said the farmer would be happy for me to visit it! The right lane goes next to some bungalows, and leads to a blue, rusty kissing gate. This goes through a veritable maze of gorse with twists and turns, and the stone eventually becomes visible to the left.
The stone is right next to the railway line, with a drainage ditch behind; which enabled me to take the silhouetted picture towards the sun. The menhir has large quartz streaks, which, from a distance I thought was graffiti! A great stone. |
