The painting is on the wall of a cave shelter in the remote and rugged massif of the Tassilli n'Ajjer in south eastern Algeria.
The painting is more than 6ft high and dates from a time when cattle were herded, battles waged in chariots and lions, giraffes and antelopes roamed free and were plentiful. Climate change is nothing new - what happened to this lost civilisation? Who is she?
Acrylic painting by Peter Herring - one of a series based on ancient art. |
