(2005-04-27) | You posted a pic of those lovely stones on 25th November when you were trying out your new camera, Creators! I christened them 'the receptors', as they seem to be scanning the atmosphere for messages!
They do seem very special, and their sihouette in the darkness seems to highlight their mystical aura. (And I don't mean the special effects of the sky!) Magic! | creators
(2005-04-28) | You are quite right AngieLake, my fascination with the 'receptors' is quite seperate from any special effects. I am aware that the trees behind the Portal stones and those lining the Great Ditch make a stunning setting for them, and the moon plays its own lovely part, but there is something about them that is very special. Whenever I am at Avebury I do not want to be far from them, though I roam all over the circle I do so with growing dis-ease, an itch to be back with them. However there is another area where I am almost as at home, and that's with stones 4 - 16 in the SW Sector of which I posted a picture on Feb 23rd.
In the same field as the receptors is a small stone between them and the Portal Stones where I have spent countless hours sitting and 'stonogitating'. Although I am often there waiting for the sunset there is really no need for me to get there four or five hours before the sun even considers that going down is an option. It was here that Avebury first spoke to me and welcomed me with words that only my soul could hear, "Welcome Home". |
