This megalithic grave is called Gevasteine, too. Geva was the wife of Duke Widukind, a famous saxon leader who fighted bloody battles against Emperor Carl the Great (Francs) around 780 A.D. (compare with hunebed Germany #909 Karlsteine) Geva was a sister of King Harold I. of Haithabu, a Viking Kingdom, located in todays State of Schleswig-Holstein near the Danish border. Legend says, that Geva was burried under this stones. |
